Facial Treatments FAQ

What does a chemical peel treat?

Chemical peels have been used for many years as a beauty enhancer. Modern chemical peels are designed to treat: Sun damage such as sunspots, freckles, melasma, pigmentation and age or liver spots, fine lines and wrinkles, rough, dry skin, acne scarring, skin discoloration or pigmentation, blackheads and clogged pores, excessively oily skin.

What long-term results should I expect?

Peels strengthen collagen bonds and tighten elastic tissues within the skin. This softens or erases fine lines and wrinkles and gives your skin a firmer, brighter, more youthful look. We offer safe and effective peels suitable for all skin types and produce predictable and noticeable results after one peel and significant results after three to six peels.

How does it work?

Chemical peels use unique formulas to break down the structural bonds within the top layer of skin. After the outer layer of dead cells peels away, fresh, new skin is exposed. Your skin looks and feels firmer and smoother. Peels also provide long-term benefits by boosting cell turnover and encouraging collagen production.

Injectables FAQ

What are deoxycholic acid (D.A.) fat-dissolving injections?

D.A. is a naturally occurring bile acid that can reduce the amount of fat (a process known as lipolysis) under the skin of stubborn areas.

How do deoxycholic acid injections work?

The substance disrupts the cell membranes of the fat cells, causing an inflammatory reaction and the fat cells subsequently die, and the fat is processed as it would be in a diet, resulting in fat reduction in the area.

What areas can be treated?

Deoxycholic acid can be injected into any body area with stubborn fat (double chin, abdomen, love handles, thighs, bra area, etc.). Please note D.A. injections are not a treatment for weight loss and are not suitable for large areas of fat.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on area and person – each person will metabolize at a different rate. The average number of treatments is 2-6, approximately 4-6 weeks apart.

What should I expect during the treatment?

A topical numbing cream or ice packs will be applied to the site. A stinging sensation is usually felt when the D.A. is injected. The treatment takes approximately 5-20 minutes (depending on the area), then an ice pack is applied immediately afterwards. Swelling, tenderness and bruising are normal responses afterwards and can last up to 7 days.

When will I see the results?

Mild changes can be seen after the first treatment (around week 4-6 post), but most people do not see noticeable changes in the area until after treatment 2 or 3.
